Applications for 2015-2016 participation in the Prevalence of Antibiotic-Resistance in the Environment (PARE) Project - a low-cost, low time commitment classroom-based authentic research module - are invited.

Students from classrooms across the nation are collectively assessing the Prevalence of Antibiotic-Resistant microbes in the Environment (PARE) through soil sample collection, serial dilution, plating, counting and recording. The PARE program can be implemented in two traditional laboratory class periods, totaling about 5-6 hours of class time for undergraduates, although there are numerous opportunities to expand the experience. The program includes a high school outreach component in which each undergraduate laboratory partners with a high school classroom. Instructional materials, $500 supply money, a supportive community and a $750 travel stipend to attend ASMCUE are offered. For more information, contact me or visit my website:
