Original Workflow: Yeast Chromosome Synthesis

Build-a-Genome began at Johns Hopkins University under the leadership of Dr. Jef Boeke as part of the Synthetic Yeast Project. The Build-a-Genome course was initiated at Johns Hopkins University in 2007. It engages undergraduate students in the construction of synthetic DNA which is hierarchically assembled into larger pieces. These synthetic DNA fragments are incorporated into the Synthetic Yeast genome.

Protocols for this workflow are available in our BAG Lab Manual.
