Tammy Long is an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant Biology at Michigan State University. At MSU, she has led efforts to renovate introductory biology curricula by infusing science practices, such as modeling, explanation, and data analysis, into all aspects of instruction and assessment. Her team’s research is focused on understanding the mechanisms by which students use, interpret, and reason with biological models, and to evaluate impacts of model-based learning on long-term knowledge retention.
