About Teaching and CourseSource

Te-Wen Lo is an Associate Professor in the Biology department at Ithaca College. Te-Wen’s first job after college was in a C. elegans developmental genetics lab where she first began to appreciate genetics and the power of model organism research. After discovering her passion for teaching during her post-doc, she decided to pursue a faculty position at a primarily undergraduate institution. Since joining the faculty at Ithaca College in 2013, Te-Wen has taught a variety of courses at the undergraduate level including a first-year seminar, genetics (for majors and non-majors), communicating biology, and a learning assistant practicum.

Te-Wen has actively worked to promote research opportunities at Ithaca College. In addition to the opportunities in her own genetics research lab, she has served on the Experiential Learning Committee and as the Faculty Coordinator for the Summer Scholars Program. Beyond Ithaca College, Te-Wen has served on the Genetics Society of America Education Committee and is currently on the BREWMOR Steering Committee.

Te-Wen is very excited to join the CourseSource editor team. As an instructor, Te-Wen strives to incorporate novel research experiences into her courses regardless of whether it is a required Genetics course for majors or a science course for non-majors. She has seen firsthand the excitement and impact of these experiences for students. Te-Wen is honored to have the opportunity to be a part of CourseSource team and working towards increasing the resources available to create more effective learning environments for all.
