Applications are now closed. 

Apply by December 23, 2021. Applicants must be able to attend all of the online meetings, including a kick-off meeting in mid-January and small group meetings every other week from Jan25 - April 29, 2022, at a time convenient for participating faculty. All faculty are welcome.

The application collects basic contact and institutional information and includes answers to the following questions:

  • Which module do you have in mind to customize, implement and publish?
  • Which of the LDC themes do you plan to incorporate into your module? What ideas do you have to adapt the module before implementing them in your course(s)? (about 100 words)
  • Describe your experiences on any of the LDC themes in your teaching. Include challenges you have faced and strategies you have used to engage your students in biology and the life sciences. (250 words)


Once accepted into the Network, participants should commit to the following:

  • Fully attend all sessions during the Spring semester (Jan25 - April 29, 2022)
  • Confirm a module to customize, implement and publish
  • Implement portions of the module in at least two class session during the FMN
  • Share materials on the QUBES Hub
  • Publish the final module to be recognized as ESA Education Scholar and receive the $750 stipend.

It is important that all participants are able to commit to the full experience. The greatest benefits of these experiences are generated in the interactions with colleagues. Your contributions will be critical to the success of this program.
