The QUBES Faculty Mentoring Fellows Program provides leadership positions in quantitative biology education to promote effective instruction within and across institutions. Faculty Mentoring Fellows are outstanding faculty that have shown a clear dedication to improving science teaching.

Faculty Mentoring Fellows' experiences culminate in their coordination of a QUBES Faculty Mentoring Network in Fall 2018, sharing best practices in quantitative biology education with peers around the country.  To prepare, fellows commit to a bridge program that provides guidance to select a network topic, recruit participants, establish a schedule of activities, and implement their Faculty Mentoring Network on QUBESHub, and to attend a summer in-person meeting.

The position comes with prestige, a title, financial support to attend an education-focused scientific conference, and high expectations for engagement with the quantitative biology education community.

Our 2018-2019 Program:

In-person kick-off meeting - June 18-23, 2018 -  Fellows will convene at the Wicked Problems: Investigating real world problems in the biology classroom workshop co-sponsored by QUBES, BioQUEST, and ScienceCaseNet, at Harvey Mudd College, (Claremont, CA) to select a topic and plan for their faculty mentoring network. This meeting will help Fellows define an audience, generate recruitment strategies, engage faculty interest and participation, and find/develop/polish materials to share. They will also learn how to use the QUBESHub web platform for collaboration, and discuss best practices in pedagogy and online collaboration. Registration is waived for QUBES Faculty Mentoring Fellows.
