The mission of the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) is to enable understanding and forecasting of the impacts of climate change, land use change and invasive species on continental-scale ecology – by providing infrastructure and consistent methodologies to support research and education in these areas.

NEON is a continental-scale ecological observation facility, sponsored by the National Science Foundation and operated by Battelle, that gathers and synthesizes data then provides that data free of charge to the community to use to address pressing societal and ecological questions. Access NEON data on the website: neonscience.org

NEON Faculty Mentoring Network

Use NEON data-centered activities in your classroom! NEON provides free ecological data from field sites across the US for researchers, educators, and policy makers. Participants in the NEON Data Education FMN will implement or adapt existing NEON educational materials to their educational settings. Faculty who already teach using NEON data and would like to use the FMN to improve the content and transition it to an open educational resource are also invited to participate.

Find out more about the NEON Data Education Fellows FMN. Please watch the QUBES announcements and this page for future opportunities.

Teach with NEON Educational Resources

The NEON Data Skills educational resources include online data tutorials, data-centered classroom lessons, science videos, and other resources that support working with large spatio-temporal datasets, including those offered by NEON.

All classroom materials are also cross listed on QUBESHub - check out Educational Resources in the navigation above!
