   o Theme of conference is "Roadmap for the Future"

  • Next Steps for Integrating Bioinformatics into Life Science Education
  • Review of NIBLSE primary objectives
  • The long-term goal of the Network for Integrating Bioinformatics into Life Science Education (NIBLSE; pronounced "nibbles") is to achieve the full integration of bioinformatics into undergraduate life sciences education.
    • Establish NIBLSE as a permanent network of investigators committed to the accomplishment of the long-term goal;
    • Draw from the collective expertise of the Leadership Team and Steering Committee and work from the literature to collaboratively identify, vet, and refine a set of bioinformatics core competencies that are essential to undergraduate life sciences education;
    • Identify and vet assessment tools that align with the core competencies and will facilitate educational research related to integrating bioinformatics into the life sciences; and 
    • Organize and simplify the dissemination of curricular materials, assessment tools, and professional development resources that align with the core competencies.
