Population Genetics

This group is a place for users of the Population Genetics textbook and simulations, especially instructors teaching classes using the materials, to share resources and teaching strategies, collaborate with other users, and provide feedback about their experiences using the book and simulations.

Population Genetics is primarily hosted on the publisher's website. Here users can access chapter resources and simulations. There is also a list of errata from the first printing of the text, found here.

Central Concepts of Population Genetics

• The goal of population genetics is to make predictions, and the mathematical basis of these predictions can be understood through step-by-step explanations rather than just memorization.

• Simulations are a key tool to understanding these predictions by seeing for oneself dynamics and equilibrium/average outcome and by being able to alter parameter values and witnessing the outcome.  

Additional Simulations from the Author

This site contains additional simulations to accompany the textbook along with newer simulations as well. All simulations can be accessed and run directly from this website. A run in the "Drift Decline in Heterozygosity" simulation is pictured below:
