Dates: February 16 - March 13, 2015

Group Description: This faculty mentoring network will provide participants with a basic introduction to Populus. The goal is to increase faculty awareness of how Populus-based activities can be used to build student understanding of mathematical models and graphs in population biology.

Objectives:

  • For the group: The goal for this group is to create a forum in which participants discuss tips and tricks for using simulation software, like Populus, effectively in the classroom.
  • For individuals: The goal for each individual is to generate a curriculum sketch for how Populus could be used to illustrate a core concept of population biology to students.

Intended Audience: Faculty who teach evolutionary ecology concepts at any level and who have never used - or are only slightly familiar with - Populus.

Commitment: 4-weeks, 1-2 hours/week
