Welcome to the QB@CC network!

  1. Vedham Karpakakunjaram

    Hello!

I am a Biology faculty at Montgomery College, Maryland and the co-PI of the QB@CC grant! I teach introductory biology for majors, general biology for non-majors and sophomore level organismal biology. I am excited and looking forward to working with you - as part of the QB@CC network and hoping that together we can expand the network in the years to come! At Montgomery College, I have been involved in the college-wide initiatives to build and adopt open-access courses. I am hoping that the resources that we build as part of the QB@CC grant will have positive impact on students' learning experiences.

Hello everyone! I am in Biology Department at Lane Community College in Eugene, OR. I teach 100 and 200-level courses, generally most topics except cellular biology. It’s a great mix of students! Many are coming to class without a math prerequisite so I have a wide range of students with different math experiences. Some concepts I struggle with - teaching population ecology and growth models, and really anything with logs. Most of my students hide under their desks when I put an equation on the board so I hope to learn better ways to walk students through an equation and make it useable for them. Also, I hope to learn better software platforms or tech to help students in remote settings, since it seems I will be continuing to have some hybrid classes. I’m excited to learn from this group and contribute!
