Description
In this teaching modeling scenario, we demonstrate how lessons on salt-tank compartmental modeling can be used to predict phosphorus levels in the Great Lakes. Although the model that we present here is highly simplified, it is a great preliminary analysis tool in understanding nutrient dynamics in water systems and can be extended to capture more complicated real-life phenomenon. Studying phosphorus levels can provide valuable insights into the dynamics of nutrient cycling, water quality, and ecological processes within the Great Lakes.
