  • Biography

My research goal is to understand the genomic basis for the diversification of lineages and the origin of species in pests and pathogens. Crop pests and human pathogens cause severe economic and health-related burdens to our society. A better grasp of the evolutionary processes that allow for independent lineages to emerge, and the mechanistic basis of novel phenotypic variants at the genotypic and physiological levels, will aid in developing innovative solutions for eradication and biological control. I am also passionate about teaching biology and have taught classes in evolutionary biology, bioinformatics, and the ethics of biological engineering.
