• Biography

  Hi, My name is Chris Vriezen and I am instructor of several laboratory courses in the Department of Biological Sciences at Smith College, Northampton. I have a MS degree in Biology from the University of Wageningen and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts. My main interest is the stress response of soil bacteria. I am studying the stress response of S. meliloti to osmotic stresses, as well as the cues that lead to the production of antibiotics in novel soil isolates. I am implementing some of this research in the Introductory courses as well in the Microbiology course here at Smith College.
