Dr. Amy Klocko has a PhD in Plant Biology from Washington University in St. Louis where she studied the regulation of intracellular membrane trafficking in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and was a post-doctoral researcher at Oregon State University where she began work on tree species including hybrid poplar, eucalypts, sweetgum and domestic apple. Currently, she is an assistant professor of Plant Genetics at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She is using CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing to study floral form and fertility in in hybrid poplar and domestic apple. She mentors undergraduate and master’s degree students and does scientific outreach for high school students. She teaches Introductory Biology, Genetics, Explorations in Genetics, and Plant Physiology.
