About Teaching and CourseSource
During my time in graduate school and as a post-doctoral fellow, I sought out teaching experiences at the undergraduate level and was involved in various curriculum development activities. I am currently Acting Director and Associate Professor of Medical Sciences at Agnes Scott College. When teaching, I strive to actively engage students in the learning process and support their learning with pedagogical approaches that promote understanding and retention of course content. Additionally, I endeavor to assess the impact of my teaching strategies on student learning.
As a participant in the Summer Institutes on Scientific Teaching Institute in 2017, I began a collaboration with faculty from multiple institutions to evaluate the impact of active learning strategies in biology classrooms. At this conference we were introduced to CourseSource as a journal that welcomes submissions of innovative teaching strategies that can be used by instructors across disciplines. I am excited to help other instructors share their innovative course content in this platform.
