NWBC
Welcome to the Northwest Biosciences Consortium (NWBC), a community of biology educators in the Pacific Northwest who aim to adopt the Vision and Change A Call to Action initiative and create modern, student-centered, integrated, and investigative introductory biology experiences for all students.
The NWBC is creating a series of learning outcomes and customizable modules that can be incorporated into any first-year or introductory biology sequence that reflects the NWBC's commitment to scientific literacy for majors and non-majors alike. The NWBC is especially interested in developing course descriptions to facilitate curriculum design and student transition, especially from the 2-year to 4-year institutions. The NWBC also fosters professional development, provides support, promotes dissemination, and facilitates curricular reforms at our institutions.
QUBES Project
The mission of the Quantitative Undergraduate Biology Education and Synthesis (QUBES) project is to improve learning opportunities for all students enrolled in undergraduate biology courses by reflecting the centrality of quantitative approaches in modern biology [more info about QUBES]. One of the ways that QUBES promotes quantitative approaches is by partnering with existing projects and communities to facilitate the discovery and use of their materials [more info about partner projects].
The NWBC / QUBES collaboration
NWBC and QUBES have joined forces to raise awareness about the NWBC's events, activities, and products.
