The mission of the Quantitative Undergraduate Biology Education and Synthesis (QUBES) project is to improve learning opportunities for all students enrolled in undergraduate biology courses by reflecting the centrality of quantitative approaches in modern biology.
The Five Major QUBES Initiatives Include:
- coordinating the efforts and resources of disparate communities invested in promoting quantitative biology education
- supporting faculty understanding and implementation of specific quantitative biology concepts and teaching approaches
- increasing the visibility, utility, and adoption of existing quantitative biology materials and the capacity for peer educator interaction
- quantifying and tracking faculty contribution to quantitative biology education scholarship
- studying and disseminating the features of QUBES that increase implementation success.

BEER: Biomathematics and Ecology Education and Research was October 9-11, 2015 in Normal, IL.
There was a keynote presentation by Carlos Castillo-Chavez from Arizona State University and a workshop with Joseph M. Mahaffy from San Diego State University. There were many events, including technical sessions, presentations, plenary presentations and coffee.
