Kurt Sable has been a Hydrologist for the US Forest Service for 17 years, working for three different National Forests in Northern California. He discusses the short-term and long-term impacts of wildfires, including resource advising, suppression, and repair, Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER), impacts on the ecosystem, timber salvage, and forest ecosystem restoration.

This interview is a great opportunity to learn more about the operations side of the United States Forest Service, how they handle crises, manage land, gather data, and address how these natural weather events impact all forms of life. Kurt shows the nuance needed when assessing the impacts.
