Article Context

Description

Our mathematical model culminates with a separable linear first order differential equation which can be compared to predicted data, measured data, and modeled data.

Part 3 can require students to move from a discrete difference equation to a differential equation, but those answers can be given or briefly derived by the instructor instead of derived by the student.

As an extension, students can examine Google Trends data to examine graphs of real-life scenarios when memes and current cultural topics surge in Google searches.

Some Google Trend examples are included at the end.
