Description

In this poster I discuss two curricular efforts in which learning of biology is integrated with other disciplines at Olin College. The cross-disciplinary courses “Six Microbes that Changed the World” (Biology-History) and “Biomimicry” (Biology-Design) invite students to learn and engage with biology at the introductory and advanced levels, respectively. The benefits of cross-disciplinary approaches to learning are numerous: increased student engagement and motivation, development of skills in holistic thinking, and application of knowledge and ways of thinking. This poster discusses course learning objectives and frameworks that facilitate cross-disciplinary learning and biology application.
