Description
This resource has been designed as a supplement to chapter X in X. The chapter describes several coding exercises and simulations that deal with bacterial growth, bacterial adaptability and the emergence of antibiotic resistance (AMR), as well as the impact AMR has on population dynamics and survival. Many of these concepts can be reinforced through simple laboratory activities that we're presenting herein. While several of the presented activities would require access to a basic microbiology laboratory as well as a trained instructor of microbiology who is knowledgeable of standard laboratory procedures, virtual labs and videos are shown as well for those who do not have access to a laboratory. Materials and strains can be purchased from a variety of vendors and organisms that are safe for teaching labs are available.
