This is a case that combined Biology and Statistics. Three students majoring in Biology conducted a research experiment on the effects of Avian Malaria on Pigeon fledging growth. They compared the ages and mass of pigeons from the three different groups including experimental (pigeons injected with a solution from the infected vectors), control group (pigeons injected with a solution made from uninfected vectors), and background group (pigeons handled but not injected). They collected the data and use statistical analysis to determine the significance of malarial infection. This case can be used in Biology course or Biostatistics courses for sophomores or juniors at the college level.
