Deep Teaching Residency (DTR) Applicants

We are seeking 24 STEM Educators who are committed to examining and addressing deeply rooted structures and practices that lead to inequitable outcomes for students. 

We seek applicants who are interested in collaborating with a community of educator-scholars from a range of STEM disciplines and institutional types. DTR participants will share ideas and resources to transform teaching and learning through 'Deep Teaching' practices.

DTR2023 Application

In addition to demographic and institutional information, we request that applicants respond to a series of short essay prompts on the Application Form (linked below). 

  • Is there anything unique and relevant about your institution that you would like to share?

  • How do you define an inclusive STEM experience? (limit 150 words)

  • What are the reasons that you think your students struggle? (limit 150 words)

  • What can you do to address inequity? (limit 150 words)

  • What experiences do you have implementing inclusive pedagogy into your teaching? (limit 150 words)

  • Describe one course (new or existing) that will be the focus of your DTR teaching transformation project during the academic year following the face-to-face workshop (Include course level, enrollment, student population, topic, format)

  • What do you hope to gain from participating in this workshop and what do you hope to contribute to the learning community? (limit 200 words)
