Biography
Ms. Katie M. Sandlin is a proud first-generation college student who obtained both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Biology from The University of Alabama. She was a McNair Scholar and has research experience in microbiology, evolutionary biology, and genomics. Katie is a Teach For America (Memphis) alum and has nearly 10 years of teaching experience ranging from middle school to college-level courses. Katie has served as the Director of Communications and Curriculum at the Genomics Education Partnership (GEP) since 2019 where she is an inclusive curriculum developer, web designer, and accessible media creator. Katie is passionate about science education and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts. Her research interests include evolution of the insulin signaling pathway across metazoans. Katie recently joined the BioQUEST staff as the Program Coordinator where she provides essential administrative and logistical support across the full range of BioQUEST projects and activities, helping to ensure efficient and smooth day-to-day operation.
