Elizabeth Gibbons Bailey has a Ph.D. in Physiology and Developmental Biology from Brigham Young University. Her dissertation focused on the biophysical properties of cell membranes during apoptosis. She also had the opportunity to conduct some education research on the side during graduate school, and she was hooked! She has been conducting Biology Education Research as her main research focus since 2014. She enjoys researching the experiences of women and Indigenous students in STEM. She also conducts research on assessment format and frequency, reciprocal peer tutoring, and best practices for teaching equation derivation in biology classes. Dr. Bailey taught at Salt Lake Community College, Brigham Young University – Hawaii, and Georgetown University before returning to Brigham Young University as an Assistant Professor in 2018.
