About Teaching and CourseSource
I am an associate professor of biology at DeSales University, a small, faith-based liberal arts college in Pennsylvania. My path to this position was a nontraditional one – I spent many years as an adjunct faculty at institutions of varying sizes and composition before beginning my career at DeSales. This indirect career path helped me realize that one of the first things I needed to accomplish in my new position was to become a better instructor. My engagement with the American Society for Cell Biology provided me with the professional development I was seeking. Through the programming offered by the ASCB Education Committee, as well as the invaluable teaching education and support I received through the PALM (Promoting Active Learning and Mentoring) Network, I learned evidence-based practices that transformed my teaching. CourseSource has been a much-used resource for me along the way. I am proud to be more deeply involved with this publication and the people who produce it.
