Jacob Kagey is a professor in the biology department at the University of Detroit Mercy. He teaches courses on genetics, bioinformatics, and human genetics. Prior to his position at Detroit Mercy, he earned his PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Emory University studying epigenetic changes in breast cancer. His current research focus utilizes Drosophila to understand the genetics of cell growth and cell division. He established the Fly-CURE, a national CURE consortium, based on this research to incorporate undergraduate research into genetics laboratory courses.
