RIOS Institute

Earlier this month, I gave a talk at Every Learner Everywhere (see recording and slides here) about teaching a class called Calling Bull with R. This course is about the intertwining of civic engagement, power and privilege, information and misinformation, technology, data literacy, data storytelling, and open science. 

The original Calling Bull course was developed and taught by @Carl Bergstrom & Jevin West at the University of Washington. They are in the disciplines of #biology and information theory, I teach it now out of my #digital and #computational studies department, and I know others looking for this and similar out of #math and #stats departments. I could also see this taught in a politics department or many others! Also, while my course teaches #R, it would be fairly straightforward to use a different language or only use Google Spreadsheets.
