Abstract

Resource Image Using a grid and m&m candies, we simulate the spread of disease. Students conduct the simulation and collect data to estimate parameters (in several ways) in a differential equation model for the spread of the disease.

    Look at the smiles on my students’ faces! They collected #high #quality, #unbiased #data, set up the necessary #Diff #Eqn for the disease spread, some #plot the data, they all agreed they need to figure out the #intrinsic growth rate in the #logistic equation. We got to eat M&M after modeling! ????????????

    It is also my privilege that an computer engineer & expert educator @Jorge Christen from Mexico ???????? are helping me design the curriculum using #ENSAR methodology. We love to use #SIMIODE modeling scenarios to enhance our teaching for Differential Equations! Thank you!
