Abstract

Description

In this scenario, students will begin by carefully reading through the problem statement and uncovering which information is useful. Students will derive a system of first order differential equations which describe the flight path of a drone delivering a package. Techniques used to derive the analytical solution include similar triangles via one method, and vector analysis with another method. We suggest an emphasis on numerical methods as well, and have included resources on the Euler method, Improved Euler method, and Runge-Kutta methods for the numerical analysis of the solution. Finally, we have included a beamer file to introduce this problem in class.
