Abstract: Much has been said about the benefits of using projects in teaching the calculus sequence. Here we discuss the value of student designed, in-depth, modeling projects in a differential equations course and how to prepare them for it.
This paper gives rich resources for modeling with differential equations and full references. It also goes into detail on several models.
Keywords: differential equations, modeling, computer-aided analysis, projects, student writing, sprinting, population, tank, mixing
