Summary:
This is an introduction to bioinformatics using hemoglobin as an example. The worksheets introduce students to resources to explore the DNA, RNA and polypeptide linear structure with a brief introduction to the quaternary structure of hemoglobin.

Description

The three part worksheets introduce students to the use of basic bioinformatics tools to find and view the sequences of alpha and beta hemoglobin subunits as well as comparing those to the sickle cell mutant of beta hemoglobin.  These worksheets can be used by themselves or as an introduction to the MolCaseNet Nicholas' story, which explores the protein structure and treatment of sickle cell anemia.
