Description

Interested in what the Revealing Hidden Figures in Natural History Collections working group got up to lately? Look no further!  In this less than 5 minute video we answer the following questions, so read on, tune in, or both!

What were your initial goals, mission, and deliverables?
To create a CURE module based on collaborator Siobhan Leachman's revealing hidden figures workflow.

How have those shifted over the past three months?
We broke the workflow into an overview module, 5 exercises, and a synthesis activity. We have made significant progress on all of the materials. We have also partnered with BCEENET for support with development since this was a much larger undertaking than we expected.

What are your group’s deliverables? Remember these can range from a summary of what you’ve learned (perhaps shared as a blog post) to new learning resources to a reflection on implementing a new strategy.
We are planning to have at least two modules (the introduction and one exercise) complete and published to QUBES by January and the entire series complete and published by the end of Spring 2023.

What have you learned about your working group topic?

Learning to present stories as ways to tell the story of those who have been left out of receiving credit. Specifically helping to start the conversation on why and who has historically (and currently) not received credit for their work and knowledge.

What are your plans going forward?
We are working on finishing the modules. We are also working on a RCN-UBE Incubator proposal to support developers, and to organize a workshop to train implementers on the process and materials.
