Nick the Tick is story about parasite lifecycles suitable for use in university or K-12 settings. The story is about a newly hatched tick named Nick and his adventures as he attempts to find his blood host to progress to the next life stage. Nick the tick meets different parasites, such as the lancet fluke, causative agent of whirling disease, causative agent of beaver fever and Giardia along his journey and Nick the tick asks them for guidance as he is unsure where his blood host is. We include two powerpoint versions of the storybook, with and without text included. The text version has been used in two third- and fourth-year undergraduate biology courses. We also provide a facilitation guide and discussion questions to accompany the storybook. More information about the creation of the storybook and evidence of activity effectiveness in an undergraduate setting can be found in the linked undergraduate honours thesis. We welcome suggestions and revisions from the community.
