In this lesson, students cover the basics of climate change, interpret and predict several graphs that explain climate change scenarios under different treatment options, and reflect on an interview with plant ecologist Dr. Sarah Emery, who wrote the paper in focus in the lesson.

Description

This lesson was designed for a 75-minute class period with in-person delivery. The target student level is undergraduate biology non-majors. The lesson was designed for 250-300 students. 

The materials include an instructor guide (1_LessonGuide_ClimateChange), an in-class presentation (2_PresentationSlides_ClimateChange), a link to the interview with Dr. Emery (BioGraphI Interview with Dr. Sarah Emery).

  1. Explain basic terms and information about climate change in a common language.

  2. Comprehend the causes, outcomes, mechanisms, and dynamics of climate change as a disturbance.
