1<p>These tutorials are designed to show essential data analysis techniques using a spreadsheet program such as Excel. Follow the tutorials in sequence to learn the fundamentals of using a spreadsheet program to organize data, use formulae and functions to calculate statistical values including mean, standard deviation, standard error of the mean, 95% confidence intervals, plot graphs with error bars, perform t-tests, and plot the data as histograms.</p> 1<p>In one classroom,&nbsp;a scaffolding approach was used where students knew they needed to make a certain type of graph given a set of data. Each type of graph had a brief introduction and explained the different types of variables and then students used that information to make the graph. The week before this lesson, students completed Tutorial 1 to introduce Excel before working on this graphing tutorial. From the original resource, the &ldquo;exploration&rdquo; tabs were deleted. After each tutorial, students answered questions for points on the Learning Management System (LMS).</p>
