Creating Inclusive Opportunities in STEM
Using Inclusive Experiences in Biology to Foster 21st-Century Skill Development in Undergraduate Students.
We use our platform, iBEARS, to develop inclusive experiences in biology for 4th-8th grade students, undergraduate science majors, and classroom teachers. The iBEARS project is the first known initiative to use virtual mentor training to equip UG biology students with 21st-century skills to make STEM more inclusive. Undergraduate students develop skills in leadership, communication, problem-solving, and collaboration through course-based experiences in teaching research methods to classrooms of 4th-8th grade students and their teachers.
