This page is under construction, please contact Deb if you have any questions or would like to add this approach to your FMN ASAP.

From Planning to Publishing:

Creating an iterative process to assist your participants in implementation and publishing

This page is to help set your participants up for the best success in their adapting, implementing, and sharing materials through the course of your FMN. The hope is that this, along with a new focus on the "why" of Open Education Resources, your participants will have the greatest likelihood of success in both the adaptation and implementation of the modules but also the sharing that is so important to the completion of the FMNs but is often left undone. The iterative process now builds on each step, and the timing has been laid down to assist you in preparing your participants. Please let Deb know if you have any questions or would like assistance in your group about this.

Step 1: Implementation Plan (Dec/Jan)

Implementation plans have always been the start to the process, and we have now updated them to be the starting place for this whole process. Not only will these assist the participants in their implementation, but it helps set the tone of the publication process and important pieces. The reflection questions at the end will also help set the tone for the next portion of this process.

Template available here. Please make a copy to modify for your FMN, and also for each of your participants. We recommend Google Docs simply because other participants can then view everyone's implementation plans to see how things are going.

Step 2: Teaching Notes (As implemented, as soon as possible)

Teaching notes are an important piece of the final product for your FMN. The teaching notes allow other QUBES visitors to use the materials with the smallest amount of work on their part (a huge part of the Open Education Resource life cycle as well as increasing the likelihood of your materials being used). This should be done fairly soon after implementation, so that everything is fresh in the minds of the participants.

Template available here. The template has comments associated so that the participant can print to PDF without extra instructions. Feel free to remove these and add them elsewhere on your site, or go through it with your participants all together.

Step 3: Before You Start Publishing (Apr/May)

This document is to bring together everything the participant needs before publishing their adaptation. It goes through each section and has spaces for all the necessary write-ups to be saved outside the publication process.

Template available here. This includes best practices for each section, and as each part will be copied out of the document, they are within the text.

Step 4: Publication (May/June)

This will be the step by step instructions on Final Products, or the module that has been worked into your FMN. With the other materials in hand, this part should be a breeze!
