I am a faculty member in the Biology and Environmental Studies departments at St. Olaf College. I received my PhD a long time ago (1989) from the UW-Madison. I teach Evolutionary Foundations of Biodiversity (Intro Bio), Remote Sensing and GIS, and Intro. to Environmental Studies. My research is focused on linking past changes in fire, climate, and vegetation using micro-fossils extracted from lake sediments . I am involved with BioSquare, an HHMI-funded effort to development an assessment of quantitative skills of undergraduates in a biological context.
