  • Biography

    I am currently a professor of environmental science and Chair of the IRB at Lone Star College – Kingwood, near Houston, TX and coordinated the college's service learning program; I have been at the college since 1992. My research emphasis is in environmental physiology. I attended Brooklyn College of CUNY, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, and University of Illinois.  I my previous employment I worked as an industrial biochemist at Sigma Chemical Company and was a professor of biology at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Currently I am active with the AAAS, AIBS, ESA, National Association of Biology Teachers Association, Society for College Science Teachers, and other professional science and science education organizations.   My interests are in improving higher education in the sciences and in environmental policy and scientific public education.  My interested related to this group are in getting students use databases to resolve environmental issues, data-mine digital images from field studies and from microscopic images and videos.  Currently, I am working with students on building 3D models for geospatial studies.
