  • Biography

I have been teaching at Westminster College since 2007. I teach a variety of courses including Introduction to Ecology, Organisms and Evolution, Advanced Ecology, Introduction to Environmental Studies, Environmental Studies Senior Capstone and Environmental Biology.  I believe that students learn best by doing so many of my courses involve long-term research or service-learning projects.  In addition to teaching, my work at Westminster includes advising students, chairing the Environmental Studies Program, and working with students in the Campus organic garden, chicken cooperative and beehive.  I also have an active research program investigating the environmental and ecological constraints of urban agriculture and food production. In my free time, I can be found working in my own garden, trail running or mountain biking, and obsessing about the current state of our food and agriculture system.
