Biography
Hello! I graduated with my Ph.D. in mathematics from Colorado State University (CSU) last year (2023) and am now a postdoc at the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) a joint CSU/NOAA research department in Fort Collins, Colorado. My thesis work centered around using mathematical methods to increase the interpretability, power, and efficiency of AI methods, utilizing topological data analysis, harmonic analysis, and combinatorics. My work now centers around applying mathematical methods to a variety of machine learning tasks for atmospheric science research.
Other things about me: I served in the NOAA Corps of Commissioned Officers, the smallest uniformed service of the United States; I am originally from Alaska, which is also where I did my undergraduate and master's degree studies; I am a proud cat dad to four black and white rescue cats. My hobbies include playing board games, hiking, and sailing.
