About

This mini case study reviews climate diagrams. It is intended to stand alone, but it does parallel much of the discussion in the SimBio Physiological Ecology chapter. The case study has two parts. The first helps students to understand how to read climate diagrams and how they can vary across sites. The second part describes how to derive information on potential evapotranspiration and actual evapotranspiration from the diagrams.

There are two versions of the case study. The instructor's version has the intended answers for the students'. Also, the case study does require the instructor to provide average monthly precipitation and temperature data so the students can make a climate diagram for their home region. These data are generally available from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Instructors may also find it easier to provide their own graph paper rather than using the image on the handout.

Please let me know of errors or problems or any suggestions on how to make it better.

Thank you.
