OCELOTS Spring 2024 FMN:

Implementing a module in tropical biology

Applications Due: December 13, 2023

Apply now!

Are you interested in implementing an online, open-source module in tropical biology that is based on authentic research? Apply now to join us for the Spring 2024 OCELOTS (Network for Facilitating Online Content for Experiential Learning of Tropical Systems) & BioQUEST/QUBES Faculty Mentoring Network (FMN).

Participants in this FMN will focus on how to use online modules in tropical biology in undergraduate life science courses. Accepted applicants will work with mentors to customize an existing OCELOTS module hosted on the Gala platform (https://www.learngala.com/) for use in their own courses and/or to be shared with others. This may involve modifying the module for a different educational level or adapting it for a different teaching setting. While doing this, they will participate in biweekly (every two weeks) virtual sessions to collaborate with and support others in the network and receive mentoring.

Applications are due December 13, 2023.

Space is limited, and the network is launching soon, so apply now!

Description: The OCELOTS network (https://qubeshub.org/community/groups/ocelots) is joining forces with BioQUEST/QUBES to work with faculty who are interested in adopting a specific module in tropical biology, hosted on the Gala platform. Participants are encouraged to customize the module for use in their classrooms.

Dates & Location:

The virtual kick-off will be held in mid-January 2024 (date and time TBD). The FMN will continue online to support the customization and implementation of activities in your course during the Spring 2024 semester.
