This resource uses the Human Impact on Stream Ecology data set, background and questions and provides students an very general introduction to using R. Students perform basic summary statistics and data visualization in R (using tidyr language).

Description
This activity was created for use in the 2hr activity portion of an upper division Environmental Science course. Students in this course have had courses in general biology, soils, hydrology and some have had pollution science. Few students had taken statistics or had familiarity with R.
Students are given the R code for summarizing and visualizing the Total Nitrogen data and then have to modify the code to run the same analyses for the Total Phosphorus data. Students also predict what the relationship between MMI and Total Nitrogen, graphing their prediction.
