Notes
I used the handout that gave the students an overview of the lakes and the data that was being collected on them. However, next year I will modify this into a PowerPoint so we can have more visuals and a classroom discussion as we move through the study.
I only had two students, so they did not work in groups, but instead handled 20 years of data on their own in addition to plotting the overall graph. The students were well-versed with Excel so this was easily accomplished.
We discussed what the snowpack data might tell us if we had long-term data. I will be incorporating a local example into the class next year, and may still this year if I find a good dataset! I will also be incorporating a cultural component to the module next year by talking about the Native Americans that lived in the area and the tribes that are still there.
