Data is a powerful tool for science and the broader world. However, with great power comes great responsibility. In this talk, I will discuss the promise of data science as well as some common data pitfalls. I will highlight emerging curricula that are wrestling with these issues, and leave you with some broad questions to consider as we move forward.
