Description

This is a small-scale, introductory activity for a genetics course (50 students) that students could complete independently outside of class. Students chose a eukaryotic organism and download all 5kb upstream sequences from the UCSC database. Students use free on-line CpG island search tools to analyze a set of sequences. Student have to use their ingenuity to design a figure that displays the frequency and location of CpG islands...some of these figures are used later in lecture as illustrations when epigenetics is covered.
