Description
I used this Data Nugget on two class days as our group Challenge Questions. We had just discussed Plant Structure and Function and I thought this would complement the material.
I use Team Based Learning in this course, students are in permanent groups and work together on Challenge Questions each class after I give a short lecture. This Nugget was used in place of regular Challenge Questions. To ensure students are understanding the material, myself and 2 TA’s circulate through the groups answering questions.
I did not make any adaptations, I didn’t feel that any needed to be made. I think based on questions from students I will in the future need to either discuss or add information on the type of graph most appropriate to use in different circumstances.
I will also likely use version A or B on this first Data Nugget of the semester. Jumping in with version C was a bit too advanced at the beginning of the class. I plan to add graph interpretation to exams and to additional challenge questions to track their progress through the semester.
